Diagnostic Services:

Why a diagnosis?

An accurate diagnosis is the key to being able to do
the "right" thing for your pet!

Without a diagnosis we're just guessing. In the past, "guessing" was the way it was done. "Old Doc Jones" would just look at a sick pet and then give his best guess as to which treatment or medication might help. Many times the pet would improve.

What's sad is those cases that didn't improve. Then doc would try some other medications, and then others, and so on until one of three things happened: the pet got better, the owner ran out of patience and money, or the pet got worse and then died or was euthanized.

Fortunately, Veterinary medicine has come a long way since those days. We now understand that without a quick and accurate diagnosis we are often not able to provide sick pets with the care they deserve. We've gone from the Fire-Ready-Aim way of practicing to the safer, kinder method of Ready-Aim-Fire that is responsible for our pets living longer, happier and more active lives. Our Diagnositic Tools

Electrocardiography Services:

We provide ECG services on-site as well as consultations with cardiology specialists.

Laboratory:

Laboratory tests are a vital part of the process of diagnosing your pet's medical problems. Without them we would very often just be making an educated judgment as to what disease sick pets were suffering from. Simply put, it's impossible to provide good medical care for a sick pet without being able to run laboratory tests.

We have the equipment and trained, licensed staff to do the many tests here in our In-House Laboratoy. In fact, we can do many tests here in less than an hour instead of the day or two an outside lab would take.

To you, this means that we can diagnose and start treating your pet more quickly. This is one time that speed can save lives, not kill! Your pet can't talk but we all know the love and inspiration they give when they are well.

Radiology:

Our new, on-site, modern X-ray equipment provides high quality radiographs to aid in the diagnosis of many disorders. We also have an automatic film processor which keeps the quality of our radiographs at a very high level.

To give even better service we have Dr. Blevins, a veterinary radiologist, available to 'read' readiographs in order to get the best and most accurate information from them.

Ultrasound:

We've had our Aloka SSD-3500 Ultrasound unit since the fall of 2005. It has the capability of doing both abdominal and cardiac ultrasound examinations.

Ultrasound gives us another method of viewing the internal organs of ill pets. It allows us to see things that we can not see on radiographs. Although we are by no means ultrasound experts, having it available here often saves our ill patients and their owners a trip to the Buffalo or Cornell specialists. This not only saves time and money but allowing the patient to get the proper care more rapidly.
