Poor quality radiographs can be dangerous in that they can lead a veterinarian into making the wrong diagnosis. The key to the high-quality radiographs that we demand here at Portville Veterinary Clinic is consistency. All the parameters must be consistent!

The X-ray machine must accurately measure the radiation that it emits. The automatic processor must process each film using exactly the same strength of chemicals, temperature and time. Deviation of any one of these factors will result in a lower quality radiograph. That's something that we do not tolerate.


 X-Ray Machine

This is the Sedecal High Frequency radiographic system that was installed at Portville Veterinary Clinic during the summer of 2004. It is also a high power unit. Both of these features increase the quality of our radiographs and minimize the amount of exposure to the patient.

Automatic Film Processor

Our automatic film processor is one of the reasons we are able to consistently produce very high quality radiographs. Automatic film processors give much more consistent results than the older hand-tank technology. Your pet benefits since it is difficult to get an accurate diagnosis from poor quality radiographs.
